this week i took photos of nature. nature is most often captured when it is blooming or otherwise thriving, so i saw this week as a great opportunity to showcase that nature is still beautiful in its resting phase. luckily, we recently had a heavy snow that left the area blanketed in white; it made for beautiful photos but also presented a challenge while editing.

 

it was hard to keep a consistent white through all the photos, especially as the the sun set quickly behind the overcast. in editing i focused on keeping the photos bright enough without being over-exposed, and employed some colour correction; although it is not consistent through the set.

 

all the same, i think these photos capture the stillness and calm of wintertime. everyone needs a rest sometimes, even mother nature herself; but there is something truly beautiful about that peacefulness.
